A Premise Is Half the Roleplay

When episode 2 of "The Only Mortal in Heaven" wraps, a button sits right under the player that most streaming apps would never offer: Start Chatting with the cast. That button is the best argument I know for what a roleplay app should be. It's a story already in motion that you step into, not a blank text box waiting for you to invent one.

Free limits first, because they decide everything else: episodes 1 and 2 of every series cost nothing, so the premise is free. On GoLove.ai, the row under every episode reads Follow Series, Start Chatting with the cast, Create Video and Create Image. Tap the cast list and each character's profile opens straight into her chat.

2. OurDream: chat, image and video under one subscription. If you're shopping for an OurDream AI alternative, this list gives it a fair shake either way. Its custom builder has a steeper setup curve, and it's web-only.
3. Kindroid: custom backstories and group chats. We couldn't verify pricing, so check their site.
4. SpicyChat: character roleplay with configurable personas, and the cheapest confirmed entry price on this list.

SpicyChat takes price, and OurDream's single credit allowance is easy to keep track of. But GoLove is the only app here where we could confirm a story premise comes built in, and for roleplay that's the column I'd actually look at.

Scenarios: When One Character Isn't Enough

Group roleplay AI chat on GoLove runs through Scenarios. You open one and add two characters, say Angel and Asmodea, the angel and the demoness from "The Only Mortal in Heaven." Write the premise yourself, or tap Random and let the app write one for you. Each character opens with her own welcome message, and the scene starts.

They don't blur together from there. Angel plays it sweet, Asmodea plays it wicked, and neither has to borrow the other's personality. Would you rather watch than type? Continue lets them carry the scene between themselves, trading lines and dropping in-story photos as they go, and you can step back in whenever you want.

A Scenario holds anywhere from 2 to 10 characters, and you can set it to private, unlisted or public.

Episodes 1 and 2 of every series are free, even without an account. From episode 3, a free account needs PRO, and PRO members unlock each further episode with a few Stars. Here's the rest:

You make scene images outside a chat in the generator (video's there too, if you want it). For roleplay, though, the actually useful button is Send Photo, right inside the chat.

On cost, OurDream starts in the same spot: from about $19.99/month, or about $9.99/month on an annual plan. It bundles 1,000 DreamCoins per cycle on Premium, which suits people who want a single credit allowance.

What We Couldn't Verify at GoLove.ai

Some things we could confirm and some we couldn't:

• Free tier depth: the 2 daily Stars, a limited daily Feed and episodes 1–2 of every series are confirmed. We couldn't confirm what else a free account gets.
• Release cadence: GoLove labels Series as "new weekly." As of 2026-10-12, we counted 32 episodes across 5 series. Whether every week brings new episodes, we couldn't confirm.
• Memory on PRO: ULTRA lists 8,000 messages. We couldn't confirm how far PRO's memory reaches by comparison.
• Live Mode is being rebuilt, so this article leaves it out.

Two hard limits are worth knowing. There are no male characters yet; the gender filter reads "Male (Soon)." And voice calls and voice messages are PRO features.

If you came for a male companion today, that's weak sauce, and so is the app for anyone who needs it fully free with no limits. Skip GoLove in either case. For everyone else, here's how it shakes out:

• Works: Series premises, a cast you can chat with, Scenarios with up to 10 characters, and in-scene photos. These are confirmed, and they're what this pick rests on.
• Kinda: memory on PRO and how often new episodes land, since we couldn't confirm either.
• Nope: male characters, and voice on a free account.

Where I'd Start Tonight

I'd start with episode 1 of "My AI Girlfriend," a 7-episode series starring Lexie (@iamlexiebabe). A black box lands on Milo's doormat, addressed to the girl next door. He keeps it. Inside are glasses that bring his perfect girl to life, except the account isn't his, and its owner lives one wall away. That's enough premise for a roleplay before you've typed a word.

When the two free episodes run out, tap Start Chatting and take the story wherever you want.

Once you want a partner who isn't from any series, Design with AI covers that. Describe her in plain text, up to 2,000 characters, and in about a minute you get a named character with her own bio and portrait. She's private by default.

If you'd rather have chat, image and video credits under one subscription allowance, OurDream is a solid pick. For roleplay, though, GoLove.ai is mine, because the premise, the cast, multi-character Scenarios and in-scene photos all sit in one place.
